ST. LOUIS (AP) — A winter storm sweeping throughout elements of the Midwest has snarled visitors in a number of states and left hundreds without power.
The storm moved into Kansas and Nebraska from the Rockies on Friday, then east into Missouri and Illinois, overlaying roads and making driving dangerous. The Missouri State Freeway Patrol says almost 300 automobiles had slid off roads throughout the state and more than one hundred seventy five crashes had been reported by late Saturday morning.
By late morning Saturday, officers had reported almost 11 inches (28 centimeters) of snow at Lambert Worldwide Airport in St. Louis, the place most flights have been canceled or delayed.
In central Missouri, officials stated about 12,000 households and businesses have been with out power in Columbia and the encompassing area.
The Nationwide Weather Service has issued winter climate advisories for Missouri, as well as Illinois and Indiana.
