WEST UNION, Iowa (AP) — Hundreds of chickens have been killed when a truck crashed in northeast Iowa.

KCRG-TV reviews the truck hauling about 5,000 chickens crashed early Tuesday on Highway 18, a few mile west of West Union.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says the forty four-yr-previous driver was heading west when he crashed into a ditch. He and a toddler passenger have been treated for minor injuries.

About half the chickens have been killed. The others have been loaded onto one other truck.

The driving force was cited for failure to take care of control of his car.
