Jonathan Wolman, who over more than 45 years in journalism served as editor and publisher of The Detroit News and previously labored as a reporter, Washington bureau chief and government editor at The Related Press, died Monday in Detroit. He was sixty eight.

His household informed the Information that Wolman died of problems from pancreatic cancer.

Wolman had been editor and publisher of the News since 2007, throughout which the paper met financially difficult occasions but nonetheless stored Detroit as one of the few U.S. cities with multiple major day by day newspaper.

Wolman had an almost 31-yr profession with the AP, beginning in 1973 as a reporter in Madison, Wisconsin. He rose to serve as Washington bureau chief, managing editor and government editor.
