NEW ORLEANS (AP) – An environmental group has filed a lawsuit towards the U.S. Military Corps of Engineers over data related to a planned $9.four billion plastics plant in rural Louisiana.

The Middle for Biological Variety filed the lawsuit Tuesday in federal district courtroom in Washington, D.C. The middle says it has requested data associated to the Clear Water Act permit software for Formosa Plastics Group’s plant that’s planned for St. James Parish.

It says the corps has not absolutely complied with data requests filed in September and December. The plant has gained backing from public officers, including Gov. John Bel Edwards.

Opponents of the undertaking say it is going to destroy wetlands and poses different environmental risks. The corps has not yet filed its response to the lawsuit.
