CALABASAS, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say an armed suspect who led officers on a excessive-velocity chase was fatally shot throughout a standoff on a busy Southern California freeway.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Eric Buschow stated deputies who have been investigating a home violence call in Moorpark chased the suspect when he took off in a stolen automotive.

The pursuit ended on U.S. a hundred and one in Calabasas when the car crashed into a guardrail.

A passenger in a automotive that was stopped whereas police confronted the suspect stated she heard two gunshots. Lacy Butler stated the state of affairs was “very scary,” and witnesses ducked in their automobiles to avoid being within the crossfire.

Authorities stated the man died at the scene.

Each side of the freeway have been shut for several hours, causing a serious visitors backup.
